Operations Manager for Emergency Response – Full-time

We are now looking for an engaged and experienced operations manager with an operational background for our emergency response operations.
Our member municipalities have an interesting risk topography, including heavy steel industry with extensive chemical handling, mining industry, national roads 66, 68, 70, as well as European road 16, paper and wood industries. Currently, 12 facilities are classified according to LSO Chapter 2 Section 4, and some are also classified as Seveso facilities according to both higher and lower requirement levels. The Southern Dalarna Rescue Service Association is also part of the Bergslagen Rescue Region (RRB), which is a joint operational management organization for rescue services in Värmland County, Örebro County, and parts of Dalarna, Västra Götaland, and Västmanland. In your role, you will collaborate with colleagues from the cooperating rescue services in the rescue region and may be involved in development work that concerns the entire RRB.
About the role
As the operations manager, you will be a key person in our operational organization. You will be responsible for personnel management, skills development, and work environment for team leaders and firefighters. You will lead and develop command exercises, ensure equality between stations, and contribute to a safe, efficient, and modern rescue service.
You will be part of the preparedness organization as a regional incident commander, responsible for tactical leadership during operations within the Bergslagen Rescue Region.
Job responsibilities
- Personnel management for full-time emergency response staff
- Planning and execution of command exercises
- Planning and leading projects within the operational activities
- Standby duty as a regional incident commander according to schedule
- Work environment efforts and conflict management
- Collaboration with trade unions, management group, and member municipalities
- Contribute to strategic development of operational activities
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Have completed a fire engineering degree according to the Higher Education Act (1993:100) and have undergone MSB's advanced training in rescue services for fire engineers. Alternatively, have a degree from MSB's two-year training in Accident Protection/Firefighter full-time. LK1 or Rescue Leader A and LK2 or Rescue Management B.
- Good leadership qualities
- Easy to collaborate with different personnel categories
- Good ability to work independently towards set goals
- Interest in leading the development of the rescue service's tasks
Meritorious:
- Advanced training RIL (Regional Incident Commander)
- Experience in collaboration with trade unions and political leadership
- Experience in exercise leadership
- Experience in personnel management
